Description:
Local security company Sharks Protection has threatened to drag the National Education, Health and Allied Workers' Union (Nehawu) to court, accusing the group of defamation.
Article:
This follows last week's protest by security officers at Grey's Hospital in Pietermaritzburg.
Staff were denied access in and out of the hospital by guards who blocked all entrances.
They were protesting over pay and working conditions.
The workers, who are members of Nehawu, claimed that the company did not pay them on time and that they haven't received bonuses or uniforms.

Sharks Protection spokesperson Nkanyiso Zondi has rubbished the claims, saying Nehawu is not a recognised union at the company.
He says all 42 workers have been paid and are provided with uniforms at all times.
"Out of 42 employees, 27 of those employees are affiliated with Amcu, and 15 are non-unionised, and also every employee of ours has been given a uniform. They were given their salaries on time on the 14th, and we started giving them back-pay of the wage increments of the hourly rates.
"We are a company that adheres to the gazetted policies and procedures of this country."
